What will the New Year bring?
The Annual Meeting of the Congregation will be in early February.
We will be doing the Friendship Banquet at least three times in 2012, beginning in March.
There will be a series of meditation times using the Lectio Divina method of reading the Bible. This is an extraordinary way to get deeper understanding of what the Biblical texts tell us.
We are reading a variety of books, including Speaking Christian by Marcus Borg. We will be discussing these books and may do that via a Facebook page for the church. Anyone with experience and talent for creating social media sites for groups is asked to contact Linda to volunteer.
We will be doing our usual outreach push on Gay Pride Weekend in June.
We aim to eat together more often. The Christmas Day lunch that we shared after worship (Thank You, Roy!) was delightful and reminded us again that wherever two or more are gathered, there will be Christ in our midst.
2012 is a big year in American history, with elections coming up that will see our nation debating some central issues around who we are as a nation. We will prayerfully and thoughtfully explore these issues as they arise over the course of the seemingly endless campaign year.
Amid wars and rumors of war, there is much to do for a peacemaking people.
The Annual Gathering of the Northern California Nevada Conference of the United Church of Christ is scheduled for April 26-29 in Redwood City. We will be sending a bunch of people.
There’s more to do in 2012, but details await discussion, planning and the wellsprings of the Spirit.
