On December 18, we celebrated Christmas with our fellow churches St. Paulus and St. Mark’s Lutheran in creating a festive pre-Christmas dinner for the Friendship Banquet. We had 55 diners and 8 servers who all enjoyed a wonderful dinner of Antipasti, Chicken Marbella, Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Green Beans Almondine, and Cream Puffs and Christmas Cookies for dessert. This year a bunch of us got together and created 63 Christmas gift packages for our guests. These included festive chocolates, new socks and toothpaste donated by faculty at the University of California School of Dentistry. The dinner was delicious and the guests reported the gift bags were “awesome.” We have begun to make friends with the people who serve and attend this banquet and it is lots of fun for us and for them. This time we had nine people shopping and cooking prior to the event, seven people cooking and serving on the day, and six people wrapping gifts the Sunday prior to the event. And five Golden Rings, Four Calling Birds, oops, no that’s another story!
